Fourth and fifth grade students from Hanaford and Eldredge elementary schools have an opportunity to join the orchestra and become blossoming musicians. Fourth graders are given the opportunity to be in the beginners’ orchestra and fifth graders who have already completed the beginners’ orchestra move on to advanced orchestra this year.

Students can rent their instruments from Acoustic Strings of New England and play songs from the “Essential Elements for Strings” song book.

Orchestra director, Mrs. Lee, is also the chorus director. She begins her lessons with a warm-up, usually a d-major scale. Then she has the students play through all of the songs and work on the difficult parts.

The first concert this year will be December 18 at Cole Middle School. All practice meetings are held at Hanaford in the cafeteria at 7:30 am.
